US State Privacy Rights Notice

If you are a resident of California, Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Texas, or other U.S. states with comprehensive privacy laws, you may have additional rights regarding your personal information. This notice supplements our Privacy Policy and describes those rights and how to exercise them.

1. Categories of Personal Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of personal information, as defined by applicable state laws:

  • Identifiers: Email address, user ID, device identifiers
  • Account/Profile data: Display names, birthdate, avatar, reading preferences
  • User content: Stories, images, favorites, "Want to Read" lists
  • Commercial information: Purchase history, credit balance
  • Internet/Usage data: App usage, story view counts (for trending), analytics data
  • Inferences: Preferences derived from your activity (e.g., recommended content)

2. How We Use and Share Your Information

We use this information to provide the Service, personalize content, process payments, improve our algorithms, and for analytics. We do not sell your personal information. We may share information with service providers (Firebase, RevenueCat, Resend, Google Imagen, ElevenLabs, Sentry) who act on our behalf under contract. We do not use or share your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.

3. Your Rights

Depending on your state of residence, you may have the right to:

  • Know/Access: Request a copy of the personal information we have collected about you
  • Delete: Request that we delete your personal information (subject to certain exceptions)
  • Correct: Request correction of inaccurate personal information
  • Opt out of sale/sharing: Opt out of the sale of your personal information or sharing for targeted advertising (we do not sell; submit your request through our Privacy Choices page or contact us at legal@inkyverse.io)
  • Limit use of sensitive data: Limit our use of sensitive personal information (where applicable)
  • Non-discrimination: Not receive discriminatory treatment for exercising your privacy rights

4. How to Exercise Your Rights

Through the app: Go to Settings → Account to view and update your information. To delete your account and data, go to Settings → Account → Delete Account.

By email: Send a request to legal@inkyverse.io. Include your account email address and the type of request (e.g., "Access Request," "Delete Request," "Correction Request"). We may need to verify your identity before processing your request.

Authorized Agent: You may designate an authorized agent to submit a request on your behalf. To do so, provide written authorization signed by you to legal@inkyverse.io along with your agent's contact information. We may still contact you directly to verify your identity.

5. California-Specific Rights (CCPA/CPRA)

California residents have the right to: (1) know what personal information is collected; (2) know whether personal information is sold or shared; (3) opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information; (4) correct inaccurate personal information; (5) limit use of sensitive personal information; (6) delete personal information; and (7) non-discrimination. We do not sell personal information. To opt out of sharing for cross-context behavioral advertising, submit your request through our Privacy Choices page or contact us at legal@inkyverse.io.

6. Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Texas, and Other States

Residents of Virginia (VCDPA), Colorado (CPA), Connecticut (CTDPA), Texas (TDPSA), and other states with similar laws have comparable rights. We honor all applicable state privacy rights regardless of your location.

7. Response Time

We will respond to verifiable requests within 45 days of receipt (or as required by your state's law). We may extend the response period by an additional 45 days when reasonably necessary and will notify you of any extension. We will not charge a fee for one request per 12-month period; additional requests may incur a reasonable fee.

8. Appeals

If we decline to take action on your request, you may appeal our decision by contacting legal@inkyverse.io with the subject line "Privacy Rights Appeal." We will respond to your appeal within 60 days. If your appeal is denied, you may contact your state attorney general to submit a complaint.
