A delicate cedar wood shaving is blown from a craftsman's workshop floor and embarks on an improbable journey across gardens, streams, and rivers. Carried upward by a thermal current, the shaving finally lands and rests peacefully on the summit of the distant mountain it once admired.

The Bent Bamboo and the Smallest Bird

Obaa-chan Hana

A tall bamboo stalk is bent low and weighed down by heavy winter snow in a quiet garden, while little Kiko watches from inside with her grandmother, Obaa-chan Yumi. After larger birds ignore the bent stalk, a tiny warbler lands on its tip, causing the heavy snow to slide off and allowing the bamboo to spring partially back up.
